April 9th - Alley-Oop Practice
So Zack Attack had some family up and was playing HORSE with Jumpin' Jax, Jung AKA Jung One, and Jonah AKA Nickel.
So we were balling a bit, and I kept just dropping these dimes like nothing else. No-look behind-the-back, most of the time. Attack just kept grabbing them and laying them down. My best one, though, was when Jung (pretty decent for a basketball-deficient foreign exchange student) and Jax were playing in the post, and Nickel was guarding Attack. Nickel was pretty short, but he had probably the best defense out of all of us.
So anyway, I came running up, and I couldn't see anywhere else in the post, because of Jax. So I came up to the goal, really far away. And I jumped up with the ball in my right hand, and Jax was right in front of me. He jumped, too, and the ball was damn near on him, so I brought the ball in, touched my left hand, then put it behind Jax and passed it once I was around him, and then, out of nowhere, Attack just came up and did his signature two-handed, pump-to-one-side power dunk, the Attack (Attacking the rim -- with a big "A" for you not paying attention). Like James White from the free-throw line, except closer and with a crapload more power. I have to get this on tape, really.
It was so crazy. One of the best parts about it, though, is that I was like trying to keep my balance, up until I tossed the alley-oop, and I was sideways and all twisted and stuff, it was great......
It also helped that Attack and I have the best teamwork around. We always know where the other is going to be, and know where the goal is, and how hard we need to throw the ball in order to reach them, whenever we're falling away from the goal.
For example, Attack shot a two-pointer (our equivalent of a three-pointer, cuz of the short court and streetball), and it was just barely blocked by Nickel, and I saw it was going to be an airball. So I approached quickly, coming baseline, and grabbed it. That was when I realized I was too far away to do anything. So I soared in front of the goal, grabbed the ball, then did a half-windmill (put your hands in front of you, palms facing you, move your arms in a half-circle, turning your wrist when you get to your body, and pointing behind you), and passed it behind me, to an alley-oop to Attack, who had approached almost immediately after he shot, and Attacked the rim.
Jung decided that "dat was crazy!"
So, yes, Attack and I are the best teammates ever. Okay, not really, but for the sake of this blog, we kick so much ass! We're both two of the best around at dropping and picking up dimes.
