March 19th - 21, 7, and a Dunk Contest
A'ight, so the other day, I got home from school, and my homedawg Zack "Attack" invited me up to his house to ball. First game, we played one-on-one to 21.
I led most of the game, and ended up winning by a few lay-ups. Zack Attack is taller and bigger around than me, and he's a monstrous force, but I know how to play against him. I have for almost 3 years.
Second game, to 7. He was leading because of some two-point shots, but I initiallized the pro-step move and managed to win against him in that, too.
Final game, another to 21, win by 2. I was starting to wear out, and I was losing 18-12. I was about to give up. But I, once again, took advantage of the pro-step and a few bursts of adrenaline and managed to beat him 24-22.
So his brother comes out and decides to judge a dunk contest. 3 dunks apiece.
So he started off "baseline", and did a nice 360 one-hander. His brother gave him a 9.
It took me about a minute to think about what I wanted to do, because I just realized that Attack had been working on his vertical and I can't just lay down a normal windmill and get big points for it or anything. So I started off a little different.
I threw an alley-oop right in front of the goal and approached from the left side, and did a 360, reach-out slam, somewhat like Fred Jones did in the 2004 Slam Dunk Competiton. I got a 9, too.
Attack started left again, and approached quickly. He got to the left side of the basket, jumped, put it between his legs, and dunked it on the other side. Score: 10.
How could I compete with that? Well, I could, but I just wasn't used to it from him. So what did I do? I did something I never had before.
"Go stand on the back of the goal." I told Attack. I needed his weight to keep from pulling the goal down. I ran up and jumped off both feet as hard as I could, and put both my elbows in the rim. I got a 10, finally.
So we were neck-and-neck. 19-19, and we had to pull out some crazy shit in order to win. He stood next to the goal and looked up. His porch was about 10-15 feet up, and was about 20 feet away from the goal. He bounced the ball off the porch twice and it went awry both times... but the third time, he threw the ball off the front of it, caught it in a reverse, spun around, and dunked it forward. Luckily for me, only a 9, because of the multiple tries.
So, I had to do something crazy. So I took another ball, both in hand, approached the goal, and dunked the one in my left hand first, then elbow-dunked the other one. I held onto the rim with my elbow and his brother managed to give me a 10. It was hilarious to see their reaction as soon as I did it.
